Alex Shi

Alex Shi is a full-time research scientist (Research Specialist) with the Remais Group whose work focuses on using a range of geospatial methods to assess potential impacts of industrial facilities and hazardous waste sites on environmental justice communities in California, particularly in the context of flood risks in a changing climate. He received an MPH in environmental health sciences from UC Berkeley, with a focus on geospatial science; his graduate research involved the analysis of organophosphate pesticide usage in California. Alex earned a BA in public health, also from UC Berkeley, and prior to joining the Remais group, Alex worked at OEHHA, CERCH, and NRDC on a variety of topics including phthalates in consumer products and VOCs in childhood education facilities.
