DuPont is seeking a Risk Assessor to work at Haskell Laboratory located in Newark, Delaware. Haskell Laboratory for Health and Environmental Sciences is a full-service toxicology laboratory with a growing competency in risk assessment.
 
The successful candidate will:
(1) be responsible for collecting, organizing and summarizing chemical use and exposure information.
(2) be responsible for reviewing the hazard information and appropriately conducting the risk characterization (comparing exposure and hazard).
(3) be responsible for communicating effectively (in English) the risk assessment to different audiences in support of product development, product stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
(4) be knowledgeable of exposure estimation techniques (from simple calculations to complex tools) to supplement any lack of exposure measurements.
 
Although compliance with Europe's REACH legislation is a major focus, providing risk assessment support world wide is expected. The successful candidate will help Haskell Laboratory move strategically in the direction of providing risk assessment capabilities to DuPont businesses.
 
Minimum Requirements:
5 years of experience in risk assessment, with particular emphasis in exposure assessment
MS in Environmental Science, Environmental Health or related field of study
Demonstrated quantitative skills relevant to human and ecological exposure estimation
Demonstrated understanding of basic toxicological endpoints and benchmarks used in hazard assessment
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to effectively function as a member of a high-performance, international risk assessment and toxicology team
 
The following are highly desirable:
Experience/understanding of REACH, HPV, Canada DSL, USEPA programs, and California Proposition 65
Experience with exposure modeling programs (e.g., EUSES, ECETOC TRA)
Ability to review and use hazard benchmarks required by regulatory programs (DNEL, PNEC, RfD, RfC, CSF, NSRL, MADL, occupational exposure limits, etc.)
Data management/organization experience
Fluency in a second European language
