Three Movies: Project Overview
Introduction to the Study
“The project is an interesting and very valuable technical foray into public health as it has selected a problem, as its focus, that is a serious problem throughout the world, and has approached it in a sensitive, systematic and effective way - the purpose being, to elucidate the impact of indoor air pollution on child and human health in general. It is potentially extremely important because high levels of indoor air pollution characterize many parts of the developing world where biomass fuel is used for heating and cooking.”

Co-location and Air Pollution Measurement
“One of the critical components of the study is to accurately measure the amount of air pollution in the homes in order to characterize exposure levels among the participants.”
Randomization and the Plancha Stove
“Because this is a randomized intervention trial half of the 500 households enrolled in the study where assigned to receive the plancha or improved stove at the beginning of the project, the other half received the plancha after 18 months when the child had reached 18 months of age.”
