Karina is a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Remais Group. Karina's expertise in environmental engineering and statistical hydrology informs her research on waterborne and vector-borne diseases, drawing on her advanced training in physically-based hydrological modeling and data-driven analytical methods. Her past work in Environmental Health Sciences includes characterizing the environmental determinants of leptospirosis in China using a range of spatio-temporal statistical methods. Karina's current research concerns relationships between environmental exposures and West Nile Virus infections, coccidiodomycosis infections and HFMD infections in settings spanning China and California. Karina received her PhD in Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley, and prior to her graduate work at Cal, Karina completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in environmental engineering at the École polytechnique and Ecole des Mines in Paris, France.
