Professor John Balmes co-authors an op-ed on green chemistry in Sunday's edition of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Excerpt: "California is joining other nations in improving transparency and accountability in the chemicals market and reforming antiquated chemical regulatory systems with a science-based approach to decision-making. If we truly believe in the power of markets to appropriately judge costs and benefits, we must disclose the hidden costs of health and environmental damage of chemicals in products."
